Tommy Bethea

Candidate for Sheriff of Hancock County

I’m Tommy Bethea, a 19-year law enforcement veteran and a resident of Hancock County since 1983.

My father was a Captain in the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office, which instilled in me a strong sense of duty and a commitment to serve. I am a proud father of two, and grandfather to nine amazing children.

Having graduated from the Police Academy at the University of Southern Mississippi, Camp Shelby Class of 2008, I currently serve as a Lieutenant within the Sheriff’s Office, overseeing various operations, supporting the mission of law enforcement and specifically as a Process Server.

I was honored to achieve the prestigious status, Officer of the Year in 2014, awarded by the Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers, in recognition of my dedication and effectiveness in combating crime and enhancing community safety.

My vision as sheriff is clear: to protect every resident with fairness, transparency, and accountability. I will work tirelessly to ensure our deputies have the training, resources, and community support they need to keep our neighborhoods safe. I will work hand in hand with all City Chiefs with a goal to unite all police departments within Hancock County.

Together, we can build a safer, stronger Hancock County. I humbly ask for your vote for Sheriff this November.
